Our very own Fragrant Christmas Sensory Box has all you need to evoke past memories and encourage discussion. Just put a few drops of the fragrance on the pad and place in the smelling pot. Three specially selected fragrances and six smelling pots (two for your own items e.g. lemon peel, rose petal, coffee…). A great addition in an aged care facility or respite community.
Place 2-3 drops of the matching scent on cotton pads in the smelling jar and have the participant (s) smell the scent . Can be done as a one to one sensory activity or in a small group with people living with dementia.
Each set has a question prompt card with a set of 6 questions to help get started. Extra ideas are also included – why not add some food/music to add to the atmosphere. With a peppermint fragrance you could add some sticks of rock, sand, bucket and spade and some images of donkey rides.
